WASHINGTON – A house fire in Prince William County is being blamed on a lightning strike during Thursday’s thunderstorms.
The fire, which occurred around 4:15 p.m., began in a house in the 9700 block of Greenwich Road in Nokesville.
Officials say the house, which was built in 1960/1970 to look like a historical colonial home, sustained damaged estimated at $80,000 to $100,000.
No one was in the house when the fire happened.
The tenant was displaced, officials say, but declined help from Red Cross.
There were no injuries.
