WASHINGTON – Construction will create overnight delays on Interstate 95 starting Friday night as part of the new Telegraph Road Bridge project over Interstate 95 at Quantico.
As long as the weather cooperates, lanes will closed on southbound I-95 near Marine Corps Base Quantico, starting at 9:30 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights.
By 1 a.m., crews will move to a full closure of I-95 South until 4 a.m. Saturday, 5 a.m. Sunday and 3 a.m. Monday.
The closures will be in place so that steel beams can be moved safely into place for the new Telegraph Road Bridge.
Here are suggested detours from the Virginia Department of Transportation:
- All I-95 southbound traffic will be directed to Exit 148, Marine Corps Base Quantico, to U.S. 1 South to Garrisonville Road/Va. 610 and back onto I-95 South. Police will be on-site and traffic-signal timing will be adjusted to assist with this detour.
- Drivers may experience up to 25 minutes additional travel time.
- Lanes will begin to open one at a time when overnight detours end, with all lanes restored by 10 a.m. Saturday and Sunday mornings on July 20 and July 21, and by 5 a.m. Monday morning, July 22.
Starting next weekend, crews will be working on the northbound side of I-95. Drivers can expect 30 minute stops in all lanes after midnight.
