WASHINGTON – As construction is set to wrap up this fall on Phase 1 of the Silver Line, work will begin next month on Phase 2, extending Metro into Loudoun County.
Clark Construction recently won a bid for $1.2 billion to build the second phase from Reston Town Center thru Dulles Airport to Ashburn.
The full cost of Phase 2 will be about $2.6 billion, says project director Sam Carnaggio. He expects phase two to be completed in five years, with passenger service in January 2019.
Carnaggio predicts “lots of survey work over the next six months,” with visual signs of progress on Phase 2 at the beginning of the year.
