WASHINGTON – A second cat has tested positive for rabies after being captured in North Stafford.
A resident called Stafford County Sheriff’s Animal Control to report a sick or injured cat on her porch on Bruce Street April 3, according to a news release from Stafford County Sheriff’s Department. The house is located in the Amyclae subdivision in North Stafford.
The cat was quarantined at the animal shelter and euthanized as its condition deteriorated, the release says. The cat’s body was sent for testing.
This is the second report of a rabid act in Stafford County in the last two weeks, the release says.
Residents are reminded not to try and capture stray or wild animals as they could be injured or unknowingly pick up a disease from the animal.
