WASHINGTON – Organizers of Occupy DC gathered at McPherson Square Monday morning, to mark the one-year anniversary of their protests in Washington.

There have been no street protests or anything that would disrupt traffic.

WTOP’s Kristi King reports about 70 people were in McPherson Square by 8 a.m. The group plans several events throughout the day.

The group is planning an event at 7 a.m. called “Storm K Street,” and another event starting at 11:30 a.m. called “Shut Down K Street.”

Both events call for protesters at a number of businesses, lobbying groups, banks and nongovernmental organizations.

A pamphlet describing the event on the group’s Facebook page Saturday marks “major traffic” arteries at locations such as Washington Circle, Dupont Circle, Logan Circle and Mount Vernon Square.
