Consumer Reports says dog owners would spend slightly more on their pets with an average of $1,824, while cat owners would spend an average of $1,309.
In a survey of 1,300 subscribers, just 3 percent of dog owners and 5 percent of cat owners think their pet was less smart than average and half buy their pets holiday gifts.
Even though respondents seemingly doted on their pets, they admittedly weren’t without flaws. More than a third of cat owners said the pet had damaged furniture.
Dogs are food-stealers too, 25 percent of those owners admitted their pooches had people food.
Recently, owners of misbehaving pooches have turned to a new Tumblr called “Dog Shaming,” where humans air their grievances for all to see, using photos.
