WASHINGTON – Maryland residents with a valid driver’s license or ID card can register to vote online for the first time.
Gov. Martin O’Malley made the announcement Tuesday on Twitter.
The change was approved by the Maryland General Assembly last year and the state’s director of voter registration calls it “cutting edge.”
Maryland is one of 13 states with online voter registration either in place or approved by state lawmakers.
The voter registration deadline in Maryland is October 16.
