WASHINGTON – The debate over chicken and gay marriage has taken many forms.
After Chick-fil-A President Dan Cathy told a religious publication that the company backed “the biblical definition of a family,” the chain restaurants have faced boycotts, political furor and vandals placing stickers or scrawling graffiti on buildings.
Supporters, meanwhile, flooded the chain’s franchises for “Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day,” which was countered by kiss-ins by same-sex couples at assorted locations.
Stepping into the fray are comedian and actor Skyler Stone and his friend Mike Smith, hoping to put a funnier spin on a debate that spans their support of gay marriage and their love for tasty chicken.
In a YouTube video Stone admittedly hopes goes viral, the two straight men let their respective girlfriends know their plans, dose up on mouthwash and engage in a frenzied makeout session in front of one of the chicken restaurants.
Some, of course, may not find the effort funny, particularly with the title of the video being “Chicken, with a side of HATE.”
“The biggest reason I did this is there’s two things I like: gays and Chik-fil-A,” Stone says. “And I don’t like that they don’t get along.”
