WASHINGTON – A workout a day may keep the small paychecks away.
According to a new study authored by a Cleveland State University professor, exercising several times a week may lead to higher earnings. Vasilios D. Kosteas says his findings show engaging in regular exercise yields a 6 to 10 percent wage increase.
The author says additional studies are needed to confirm his findings. SmartMoney also cautions that working out doesn’t necessarily guarantee a raise, but it could lead to lower health care costs and being able to stay productive in later years.
The study was published in the June issue of the Journal of Labor Research.
