Private island could be yours for the taking

WASHINGTON – Unless you are Johnny Depp or Marlon Brando, spending time on a private island for free is likely out of your reach. But thanks to Ideas Island, the impossible could become a reality.

Simply come up with a pitch and enter a chance to win an exclusive stay at a 30,000-square mile island in the Philippines. Guests get the whole island to themselves while they ponder writing their magna opus or come up with the next iPhone.

“Where do you do your best thinking? In the office or on top of an island looking into the horizon?” asks the website. “Ideas Island lets your mind be as free as can be.”

There are only a couple caveats. Guests must agree to pay $50 a day to cover the cost of cleaning staff and the island’s caretaker, and also include a suggested donation pledge to any charity of their choosing.
