School buses collide in Prince George’s, students injured

WASHINGTON – At least three school buses collided in Upper Marlboro on Monday afternoon, school officials say, resulting in multiple injuries.

The collision occurred in the 7600 block of Croom Road just off Blue Star Memorial Highway in Prince George’s County, after the buses had departed Frederick Douglass High School loaded with students.

Twenty-six students were transported to hospital after suffering from “very minor” back and neck injuries, says school spokesman Briant Coleman.

The collision was “low-speed,” says a Prince George’s Fire Department spokesman, involving 75 students total. One bus bumped into another, causing a “minor” chain reaction.
