When are area roads reversed?

Driving on a reversible road, I always get the feeling that I am doing something wrong. Probably the most challenging aspect of the reversible roads, however, is keeping track of all of the different reversal times. Whether you have trepidation about driving the wrong way or not, below is a list of reversal times.

Please keep in mind that there is a 15-minute window within these times that the road may still be reversing:

 

Rock Creek Parkway

  • Inbound or southbound ONLY: 6:45 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
  • Outbound or northbound ONLY: 3:45 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Chain Bridge

  • Inbound or southbound 2 lanes, (northbound 1 lane): 6:15 a.m. to 10:10 a.m.
  • Outbound or northbound 2 lanes, (southbound 1 lane): 2:45 p.m. to 7:15 p.m.

Canal Road – Between Arizona Avenue and Foxhall Road

  • Eastbound or inbound ONLY: 6:15 a.m. to 10 a.m.
  • Westbound or outbound ONLY: 2:45 p.m. to 7:15 p.m.

Canal Road – Between Chain Bridge and Arizona Ave

  • Eastbound or inbound: Two lanes open from 6:15 a.m. to 10 a.m. One lane open from 2:45 p.m. to 7:15 p.m.
  • Westbound or outbound: Two lanes open from 2:45 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. One lane open from 6:15 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Teddy Roosevelt Bridge

  • Eastbound or inbound: Four lanes from 6-11 a.m. Monday through Friday.
  • Westbound or outbound: Four lanes all other times.

Connecticut Ave NW Between 24th Street and Legation Street

  • Southbound or inbound: Four lanes from 7 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
  • Outbound or northbound: Four lanes from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
