WASHINGTON — Maryland will hire former Michigan defensive coordinator D.J. Durkin to be the school’s next head football coach, WTOP’s George Wallace confirmed Wednesday afternoon.
Durkin replaces Randy Edsall, fired on Oct. 11, and interim head coach Mike Locksley. The Terrapins went 3-9 this year, their second season in the Big Ten.
The 37-year-old Durkin served at Florida under Urban Meyer and Will Muschamp and coached the Gators in their 2014 Birmingham Bowl victory before moving to Michigan last season.
