WASHINGTON — Former President Barack Obama is famous for his love of basketball, especially when March Madness rolls around.
It was a staple of the Obama presidency for TV crews to unveil his carefully crafted bracket for both the men’s and women’s NCAA Tournament. So with no Oval Office available for the big reveal, Obama took to Twitter to share his picks.
Just because I have more time to watch games doesn’t mean my picks will be better, but here are my brackets this year: https://t.co/ETRchPcZxF pic.twitter.com/gnNXw0Ysxr

On the men’s side, Obama likes men’s overall top seed Virginia to go all the way to the national championship game — but to ultimately fall to Midwest region 3-seed Michigan State. As you can imagine, U.Va. was less than pleased by the, um, vote of confidence.

U.Va. can take solace in the bracket that came out of Richmond.
Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam is blessed with three schools to choose from in the commonwealth, so he made the absolute homer pick of a U.Va.-Virginia Tech rivalry duel for the national championship.

Much to the chagrin of Virginia fans, Obama’s pick is the closest to being correct. Aside from the fact that Virginia Tech enters the tournament with a 1 percent chance of getting even as far as the Final Four, Obama is on a roll. He correctly selected the winner of the men’s tournament last year and predicted UConn’s three straight women’s titles before South Carolina’s championship last year broke the streak.
