COLLEGE PARK, Md. — Aside from a tournament in Florida and two trips to New York, the Maryland men’s basketball team will spend the entirety of their 2017-18 non-conference slate in the friendly confines of College Park.
Head coach Mark Turgeon and the team released their non-conference portion of the upcoming season Monday, which opens on the road at Stony Brook on Friday, Nov. 10.
The Terps will take on the Seawolves at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum on Long Island before hosting four straight games at XFINITY Center, starting with the home opener against the University of Maryland Eastern Shore Sunday, Nov. 12.
Maryland will then take on Butler as part of the third annual Gavitt Games from College Park on Wednesday, Nov. 15. The Terps wrap the four-game homestand with contests against Bucknell on Saturday, Nov. 18 then Jackson State on Monday, Nov. 20.
The Maryland Men will try for a fifth straight holiday tournament crown when the team heads to Destin, Fla. for the Emerald Coast Classic Nov. 24-25. Maryland will play St. Bonaventure in the opening round and will take on either 2017 NIT champion TCU or New Mexico the next day. The Terps won the Barclays Classic back in 2016 after taking the Cancun Classic (2015), the CBE Hall of Fame Classic (2014), and the Paradise Jam (2013).
After Maryland returns from the Sunshine State, they will play the Big Ten/ACC Challenge on Monday, Nov. 27 at Syracuse.
The Maryland Men will finish the non-conference schedule with five games at XFINITY: Ohio University on Thursday, Dec. 7, Gardner Webb on Saturday, Dec. 9, Catholic University Tuesday, Dec. 12, Fairleigh Dickinson Thursday, Dec. 21 and UMBC on Friday, Dec. 29.
Also, the Terps will entertain Randolph Macon in a exhibition game at XFINITY on Thursday, November 2.
Tip-off times and network affiliations for the games will be released at a later date.
