Maryland women hand Princeton first loss, advance to Sweet 16

WASHINGTON — The top-seeded Maryland women’s basketball team defeated the previously unbeaten Princeton Tigers, 85-70, Monday night to advance to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Women’s Basketball Championship.

Playing in front of their home crowd in College Park, the Terrapins stretched a four-point halftime lead into double digits and never let Princeton back in the game down the stretch. They were led by their excellent three-point shooting, going 12-for-20 from behind the arc as a team.

Maryland is now 32-2 on the season, with a 26-game winning streak. They’ll face 4-seed Duke on Saturday.
