WASHINGTON — Four local women’s basketball teams received their NCAA seeds Monday evening, with one earning home games as top-four seeds in their regions.
Maryland (30-2) was named the top seed in its region and will host 16-seed New Mexico State on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the XFinity Center in College Park.
Despite a 29-3 record, George Washington failed to earn a top four seed and will have to travel cross country to Corvallis, OR as a six seed to face 11 seed Gonzaga on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
After also posting a 29-3 season, James Madison will be a 12 seed and take on 5 seed Ohio State in Chapel Hill, NC on Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
American University rode an 11-game winning streak to the Patriot League Conference Tournament Championship and will play as a 14 seed at 3 seed Iowa. The Eagles tip at 2:30 p.m. Friday in Iowa City.
