WASHINGTON — A house fire in Montgomery County sent one woman to the hospital Monday with life-threatening burns, according to fire officials.

Montgomery County fire crews received reports of a house fire in the 5100 block of Sugarland Road in Poolesville around noon on Monday.

When they arrived, they found the house and several nearby vehicles engulfed in fire and a woman with severe burn injuries in the front yard, according to Montgomery County Fire spokesman Pete Piringer.

Two people were in the house at the time. One person was able to escape uninjured and one woman was transported to the hospital with life-threatening burns.

Piringer said that a total of four adults who live there were displaced by Monday’s fire.

Fire officials said that the fire was in a non-hydrant area and water tankers were called to provide assistance in controlling the flames.

It took around 75 firefighters to contain the fire.
