Victims identified in rural Montgomery Co. triple homicide

WASHINGTON — Police have identified the victims of Monday’s triple homicide in a rural Montgomery County, Maryland, home.

Killed Monday afternoon were:

  • Mary Ann Olson, 66, of 22002 Brown Farm Way in Brookeville, Maryland
  • Danny Lee Murphy, 70, of Brandon, South Dakota
  • Craig Harold Shotwell, 54, of Owings Mills, Maryland

Murphy was visiting the residence at the time of the shooting. Shotwell had been doing work around the house, according to police.

The homicide led to an hourslong standoff that ended in the suicide of Christopher Wilson Snyder, 41. Police said Snyder lived across the street from where the shooting occurred.

Police said three other adults who were inside the home at the time of the shooting escaped, including Snyder’s wife.
