WASHINGTON — A Maryland man who was convicted in a double stabbing has been sentenced to 40 years in prison.
A Montgomery County judge Thursday handed down the sentence to Da’Von Mobley, 28, for the attack that nearly killed one of the victims.
Investigators said Mobley was at a party at an apartment in Germantown in October 2016 when he was asked to leave. He returned about 15 minutes later and stabbed a man and a woman before taking off.
The man was his friend, Agyeman Kouffour, who was stabbed in the neck and nearly died from his injuries.
The woman involved was Kouffour’s mother, Janet. The attack left her with a broken arm.
While the police were investigating at the house, a neighbor told them her car was missing.
Officers found the car on Kilmarnock Way and they said Mobley was driving. They told him to stop, but he drove off.
Mobley drove off the road on Cricket Hill Drive, then ran off, according to police. He was captured on Charity Court.
Mobley was ultimately convicted on a number of charges included attempted murder and assault.
According to county prosecutors, his 40-year sentence included 25 years for attempted murder and five years each for assault, auto theft and burglary.
