SILVER SPRING, Md. — Montgomery County police are asking for the public’s help in tracking down a man who tried to sexually assault a 16-year-old girl in the Briggs Chaney area of Silver Spring last week.
The suspect is described as an African-American man in his early 30s, about 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighing about 200 pounds. He has short hair and a beard and was last seen wearing a teal or dark blue sweatshirt, blue jeans and black boots.
The suspect’s vehicle is described as a blue four-door passenger vehicle, compact to midsize.
Police say the suspect followed the teen to her apartment building after she left her school bus last Wednesday afternoon. The victim tells investigators the man tried to talk to her in the stairwell of her building before exposing himself and trying to pull her pants down.
The suspect ran away after the victim screamed and her brother came to help, police say.
