Police: Transgender woman murdered at Montgomery Co. hotel

WASHINGTON — Police say a transgender woman may have been engaging in prostitution at a Montgomery County hotel at the time of her homicide over the weekend.

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue responded to the Red Roof Inn at 16001 Shady Grove Rd. in Rockville just before noon Saturday for reports of a death. When crews arrived, they found a victim with trauma to the upper body.

The victim was initially identified as 22-year-old Kenneth Anthony Blakeney, but detectives later determined the victim identified herself as a transgender female named Keyonna.

Investigators say they have information that Keyonna may have been engaging in prostitution at the hotel when she was assaulted and killed in her hotel room in the early morning hours of Saturday.

Detectives are asking anyone with information about the case to contact them at 240-773-5070.
