WASHINGTON — A man is in police custody after police say he hit his girlfriend in the head with a gun and then dragged her out of his Montgomery County house.
Police arrested 22-year-old Randolph Middlebrook of Germantown, Maryland, Tuesday and charged him with assault.
Police say on Tuesday night, Middlebrook’s girlfriend called 911 and said that he had hit her in the head with a gun and then physically forced her out of his home in the 11200 block of Valley Bend Drive in Germantown.
The girlfriend’s two children — 2 and 7 years old — witnessed the assault and stayed in the house, police say.
Following the incident, Middlebrook and the children left the house. Police located Middlebrook in the 1800 block of Metzerott Road in Adelphi, Maryland — about 25 miles from the where the assault allegedly occurred.
The victim’s children were located safe and unharmed nearby, and were reunited with the victim.
Middlebrook has been charged with first degree assault, second degree assault, and reckless endangerment.
