Silver Spring man arrested for impersonating police officer

WASHINGTON — Montgomery County police detectives have arrested Nicholas Morales-Macedo for allegedly committing sex offenses while impersonating a police officer.

Morales-Macedo is a 24-year-old man from Silver Spring. On Jan. 15, 2012, officers went to the Days Inn at 8040 13th St. in Silver Spring. A 44-year-old woman said she was sexually assaulted in a hotel room by a man who identified himself as a police officer.

The woman told officers that she and Morales-Macedo spoke online and agreed to meet at the hotel. The woman said she was in the room when Morales-Macedo entered, displayed a silver badge on a chain around his neck, and said he was a police officer.

She further said that Morales-Macedo handcuffed her, saying that if she performed sexual acts on him that she would not be arrested. According to police, Morales-Macedo then sexually assaulted the woman and left after taking her ID and writing the information on a piece of paper.

Morales-Macedo was arrested Friday in Rockville and charged with two counts of second degree sex offense and ordered held without bond. The police impersonation allegations are still under investigation and charges are possible.
