WASHINGTON — One person was hurt and 12 families displaced after an apartment fire in Burtonsville, Md., early Saturday.
Montgomery County Fire spokesman Pete Piringer said the fire started around 12:30 a.m. Saturday in a third floor apartment on Blackburn Lane right off of Route 29 near Route 198.
The cause was determined to be “smoking materials” on a mattress. The damage is estimated at $450,000.
