Man dies after jumping into Patuxent River in St. Mary’s County

WASHINGTON — Maryland Natural Resources Police said Sunday they have recovered the body of a man from the Patuxent River near Myrtle Point Park.

The victim was identified as 30-year-old Antonio Capozzi Jr., of Wolcott, Connecticut.

Police said he went missing after swimming from a pontoon boat on Sunday.

First responders from Charles, Calvert and St. Mary’s counties helped in the search. The man’s body was found about an hour after police announced the search.

Capozzi was taken to the medical examiner’s office for an autopsy that is scheduled for Monday.
