Couple in Annapolis overdoses on heroin with children present

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) — Police in Maryland say a couple was hospitalized after overdosing on heroin in front of children.

Capital Gazette reports Annapolis police say officers responded to a car on the side of the road Friday night with an unconscious woman and her 6- and 2-year-old children inside. She was driving when her boyfriend noticed her lips turn blue and called for help. Hours later he too was found unconscious while waiting with the children at police headquarters.

Police spokeswoman Cpl. Amy Miguez says officers did not find any drugs with the man nor believe he was under the influence as he “appeared normal and clear minded” during questioning.

The couple’s names have not been released, no charges have been filed and police turned the case over to Child Protective Services.
