Washington College closed as police investigate possible threat

WASHINGTON — Washington College students are now able to move about their dorms after they were asked Monday morning to shelter in place because of a possible gun threat.

“Students may move around within their residence halls and use restrooms and showers but at this point should still remain in their residence halls. Off-campus students, faculty, and staff should still not come on campus,” the school said just before 11 a.m. on its website.

The school says the parents of a sophomore at the college reported that he went home and got a firearm and that they have not been able to contact him.

Police are now on the Chestertown campus investigating. College spokesman Michael O’Connor says the student has not been spotted on campus.

Chestertown police consider Jacob Marberger to be a missing person.

He was last seen driving a 1997 dark green Range Rover with Pennsylvania tag beginning with “JWY.”

Anyone with information about him is asked to call police at 410-778-1800.
