WASHINGTON — While there have been daily protests in Baltimore over the death of Freddie Gray in police custody, friends and family of police are showing their support of law enforcement.
Demonstrators in Annapolis, Maryland, Sunday showed off their colors – blue, in support of police. Participants carried signs reading “Blue Lives Matter.”
The march was organized by Kelly Wince, whose husband is a D.C. police officer.
“Our good officers should not be judged for the very, very few bad officers out there,” said Wince.
At the rally, police union leader Vince Canales insisted Baltimore police are doing the best they can.
“It’s a tough time right now, but I know the calmer, cooler heads will prevail and we’ll get through this,” said Canales.
In Baltimore, mourners paid respects to 25-year-old Gray, whose funeral is scheduled for Monday.
