Ashburn man charged after allegedly grabbing, kissing girl

UPDATE, 1/24/2018: The case against Seyed Vafaei was dismissed on Jan. 5, 2018.

WASHINGTON — A girl walking in her neighborhood with friends on Halloween was accosted by a man who gave her candy and then grabbed and kissed her.

It happened in the area of Tournament Parkway and Palmer Classic Parkway in Ashburn, Virginia.

On Oct. 31, Seyed Vafaei, 68, approached the girl and offered her candy, which he put in her bag. As the girl tried to catch up with her friends, Vafaei grabbed her hand kissed her on the cheek, a police statement said.

The girl pulled away and caught up with her friends. She reported what happened to her to Loudoun County police the next day.

Police discovered possible additional encounters and ask anyone with information to call 703-777-0475.

Vafaei has been seen in the community riding a bicycle and wearing goggles.
