Police: Loudoun Co. woman’s death may be a domestic-related homicide

WASHINGTON — Loudoun County police are investigating what they suspect is a domestic-related homicide connected to a two-vehicle crash that occurred Saturday morning in Chantilly’s Dawson’s Corner community.

Police responded to a call from a residence on Gayfeather Drive, where a family member discovered a dead woman inside the home, just before 8:15 a.m.

Before police received that call, they had responded to a head-on crash that they say appears to be related to the woman’s death.

“We responded to that (the crash) and then at about 8 a.m. we responded to Gayfeather Drive in Chantilly as well for a report of a homicide,” said Loudoun County Sheriff Mike Chapman. “Apparently, the two were related.”

At around 6 a.m., a man who lives at the same residence on Gayfeather Drive crashed into a car in the area of Gum Spring Road and Mayhew Lane. Both drivers were taken to the hospital for life-threatening injuries.

“The driver of that vehicle had called an adult family member to go to the Gayfeather address to be with the children and then that person got involved in the car accident,” said Chapman. “And then when the adult family member arrived at the house they found that another family member was deceased.”

Police say this is an isolated incident, posing no threat to the public.

Both incidents are under investigation.
