Man charged with father’s murder in Leesburg

WASHINGTON — A man is under arrest after police said he killed his father in Leesburg, Virginia, on Sunday.

Shortly before 9 p.m. Sunday, the Leesburg Police Department said, Hector Anthony Flores Jr., 28, showed up to police headquarters with a chilling confession.

“He notified our dispatchers that he stabbed his father and left him at the residence,” said Officer Sam Shenouda.

Shenouda said officers were dispatched to the home on the 1000 block of Wythe Court. After clearing the home, officers found 47-year-old Hector Anthony Flores Sr.

“The victim was found outside the residence suffering from what appeared to be stab wounds,” Shenouda said. Paramedics were unable to save him, and he was pronounced dead on the scene, Shenouda said.

Investigators believe an altercation between the son and father resulted in the stabbing.

Shenouda said police responded to a domestic call at the home two years ago, and that the elder Flores was arrested. Shenouda said it wasn’t clear who the victim was in the case.

Shenouda said it was unusual, but not unheard of, for a suspect to turn themselves in before police start looking for them.

The body has been sent to the medical examiner. The younger Flores was arrested and is being held without bond after being charged with first-degree murder.
