WASHINGTON — Whether you prefer to chow down on corned beef and cabbage, listen to bagpipes or chug a green beer, there are plenty of great places in the D.C. region to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day.

WTOP wanted to weed through the heap of pubs, taverns and restaurants to find the best places to hang out for the Feast of Saint Patrick. D.C. area residents helped us find gold by sharing their favorite places to visit, as well as why they think it’s the ideal spot.

Below is a list of the most popular responses:

  • Ireland’s Four Provinces in Falls Church, Virginia
    • “The owner and staff go out of their way to make sure everyone has a great time. In the dining room, people of all ages celebrate the day with live music. With both an indoor and outdoor bar, there is plenty of space to grab a pint. NO GREEN BEER!”
    • “Good music. Good vibe. Restaurant in separate from bar area so families can enjoy a nice meal away from the partiers. Beautiful new covered patio area.”
    • “Wonderful staff and clientele. It is both a family restaurant and a bar; both casual and elegant; and very Irish. PS the food is great too.”
    • “It is the local place where everyone knows your name. The staff is incredible; the food is great. Where else would one want to spend St. Patrick’s Day?”
    • “The “4P’s” is my home away from home. Not only are the service, food and staff amazing, but the support and genuine caring the owners give to the community is unmatched. Their support and involvement has helped raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for various causes.”

St. Patrick’s Day at Murphy’s is filled with great fun and nothing compares to the one and only Pat Connolly leading everyone in singing Irish folk songs. It is the best Irish Pub outside of Boston! Sla’inte!!”
  • The Dubliner in Northwest, D.C.
    • “There is no better place to celebrate. Outstanding hospitality; great food and the best pint of Guinness anywhere!”
    • “All day drinking and LIVE Irish music. Great shepherds pie too!”
