Presidents Day closings, traffic changes

WASHINGTON —Here’s a quick look at Presidents Day closings and changes in traffic.

All federal and local government offices are closed, so are post offices.

Most banks are closed.

Trash collection:

  • No collection in D.C.
  • No collection in Alexandria. Trash pickup slides a day.
  • Regular trash collection in Arlington and Fairfax counties.
  • No collection in Montgomery County. Trash pickup slides a day.
  • Regular trash collection in Anne Arundel, Howard and Prince George’s counties.

These traffic changes are in effect:

  • On the interstates, HOV restrictions are lifted on Interstate 395 and Interstate 66, and on the Dulles Toll Road.
  • In the District, parking meter enforcement will not take place. Residential zone parking and rush-hour lane restrictions are lifted.
  • The Rock Creek Parkway, the Clara Barton Parkway and Canal Road will be open to two-way traffic.
  • You won’t have to feed the meter in D.C., Arlington, Alexandria, Montgomery County or Prince George’s County, except at the New Carrollton garage and National Harbor.

Transit changes

Metrobus —  Operating on a severe weather plan, with a number of routes not operating.

Metrorail — Open from 5 a.m. to midnight on Monday. Trains will run on a Saturday schedule, and parking is free.

VRE — No service on Presidents Day.

MARC — Modified schedule on Monday.

  • The Penn Line will operate on the “S” weekday schedule, with exceptions.
  • Only certain trains will run on the Brunswick Line.
  • The Camden Line will also only operate certain trains.

DASH — Saturday service with snow detour routes. Service on all DASH bus routes and the King Street Trolley will end at 3 p.m.

CUE — Modified weekday service.

RIDE ON  — Holiday schedule.

Fairfax Connector  — Holiday weekday schedule, with changes on a couple of routes.

ART —ART 41, 42, 45, 51, 55, 77 and 87 operating on Saturday schedules.

The Bus  — Regular service, except for Route 51.

PRTC Omniride — Emergency Service Plan in effect. Rides on all PRTC buses are free.

Loudoun Bus  — Limited service, with no service to directly to Rosslyn, the Pentagon, Crystal City or D.C.

MTA Commuter Bus  — No service, except Route 201.
