WASHINGTON — A bomb threat shut down Spotsylvania Towne Centre for several hours on Saturday.

Numerous WTOP listeners reported significant traffic delays on Va. Rt. 3,  just off of Interstate 95, due to the law enforcement response.

Spotsylvania Towne Centre is just south of the sprawling Central Park shopping area.

The mall was evacuated as explosive detection K-9s from the Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Office,  Virginia State Police and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security conducted a search.

No bomb was  found, Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Office Capt. Jeff Pearce says.

The mall was reopened at around 4:30 p.m.
