WASHINGTON — According to the Maryland Lottery, a winning “second tier” ticket worth $1 million was sold in Worcester County, Maryland. The number was pulled in Saturday’s Powerball drawing.

Next door, the Virginia Lottery has confirmed that a $1 million Powerball ticket was sold in Suffolk. There were 15 $50,000 winning tickets sold in Virginia, as well. They know that eight of them were sold in Northern Virginia, including Ashburn, Lovettsville, Reston, Alexandria, Manassas, Marshall, and Dumfries.

There was no one who won more than $100 in the District.

No one won the Powerball, however, which was worth $900 million at the time and is expected to exceed $1.3 billion by the next drawing on Wednesday.

According to the Maryland Lottery, there were a total of 28 second tier winning tickets sold throughout the country — 25 $1 million winners and three winners who purchased the Power Play option and won $2 million.
