1 driver killed, 1 injured in Ellicott City crash

ELLICOTT CITY, Md. (AP) — Howard County Police say one driver was killed and another was injured in a two-vehicle crash in Ellicott City.

It happened about 5:10 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of Routes 29 and 99, police said in a news release. Officers say a Honda Civic driven by 71-year-old Maryann Lofft Judge of Windsor Mill, tried to make a left turn from Route 99 onto Route 29.

Authorities say Judge’s car hit a Toyota Tacoma pickup truck driven by 45-year-old Benjamin Akintan of Ellicott City.

Police say Judge was pronounced dead at a local hospital. Akintan was hospitalized with injuries that do not appear to be life-threatening.

The crash is under investigation.
