Former President Donald Trump made his first appearance in U.S. District Court in D.C. Thursday after being indicted by the Justice Department on charges he attempted to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election.

Trump’s appearance came  amid tight security just blocks from the U.S. Capitol.

It’s his second federal indictment in less than two months.

Following the brief appearance in court, Trump headed to Reagan National Airport in a motorcade, he was expected to speak about the arraignment.

Outside the courthouse on Thursday, protesters and supporters of the former president gathered, alongside a caravan of media and news outlets covering the indictment. See photos.
