WASHINGTON — A Frederick County man is facing attempted murder and assault charges after he stabbed his estranged wife at least two times Thursday, police said.
Maryland State Police arrested 36-year-old Jeremiah William Snyder Thursday morning. Shortly after midnight, he stabbed his wife at a residence in the unit block of Fulton Avenue in Walkersville, according to police. Snyder stabbed her at least once in the head and in the arm, police said.
Emergency crews transported the 37-year-old victim to Frederick Memorial Hospital for treatment. She was in stable condition as of Thursday afternoon, said Maryland State Police spokesman Ron Snyder — no relation to the suspect.
Snyder and the victim are separated and living at different locations, investigators found. Maryland State Police said Snyder forced entry into the house and confronted the victim. An argument led to Snyder stabbing the victim, police said.
Snyder left the scene after the stabbing. Frederick Barrack troopers found him a short time later at his home in the unit block of Maple Avenue in Walkersville, where he was arrested, said Ron Snyder.
Investigators recovered the knife that was believed to be used in the stabbing.
Snyder is charged with second-degree attempted murder and first-degree assault. He is being held without bond at the Frederick County Detention Center awaiting an appearance before a court commissioner.
