WASHINGTON — A California man visiting the area for the holiday weekend died after accidentally shooting himself in the face during a hunting accident in Frederick County, Maryland.

The incident happened at around 9:30 a.m. Saturday. Maryland Natural Resources Police said the man, Vincent Cavallo, 32, of Altadena, California, was hunting with his uncle on private land near Camp David when he slipped or dropped his rifle, causing it to discharge.
