Aside from their strange sleep schedules, pastry chefs are nearly indistinguishable from your average Jane or Joe. But these donut-dealing, pastry-peddling, muffin-movers are the blue-collar Walter Whites of the baking world. And some cities have more than others. To help you find, or stay away from, these dealers of deliciousness, FindTheHome discovered the bakery capital of every state.
Baked goods, laden with simple carbohydrates, trigger very similar brain pathways as addictive drugs.
For many of us, this comes as no surprise.
Never just one donut. Or cookie. Or muffin.
The call of the carbs is real and a cursory glance at the dietary patterns and physical health of Americans shows that most people can’t resist their siren song.
While frequently eating baked goods and refined carbohydrates can have deleterious health effects, a croissant (or two) just isn’t the same as cocaine. When enjoyed in moderation, a muffin for breakfast can be the bright spot in one’s week or a cherished daily ritual.
Using the most recent 2014 estimates from the American Community Survey and data from Dun and Bradstreet, the experts at FindTheHome found the bakery capital of every state. Of all places in the United States, these have the highest number of bakeries per 10K people.
