Cracker Jack goes mobile, gets rid of traditional prize

WASHINGTON — Say goodbye to the Cracker Jack prize in the box. Cracker Jack is ending the 100-year-old tradition.

Instead of small trinkets and toys, customers will find a scannable sticker that will give you access to one of four games, the company said in a news release.

You’ll have to download the Blippar app in order to play one of the games. The games are called Dot Dash, Dance Cam, Get Carded and Baseball Star.

“The new Prize Inside allows families to enjoy their favorite baseball moments through a new one-of-a-kind mobile experience, leveraging digital technology to bring the iconic Prize Inside to life,” the release says.

The new scannable stickers debut in packages this month.

Frito-Lay also is rolling out revamped packaging featuring Sailor Jack and his dog Bingo.
