The swoosh comes to Fairfax? Nike in talks for a new store, and not in Tysons

The Peterson Cos. is in negotiations with Nike Inc. (NYSE: NKE) to open a Factory outlet at Fair Lakes Center, replacing a shuttered sporting goods store.

The roughly 15,000 square feet, at 13027 Fair Lakes Center Drive, were last occupied by a Modell’s and a seasonal Halloween store. The space sits between a 5.11 and a Sally Beauty Supply in the big-box shopping center anchored by Target, Walmart, BJ’s Wholesale Club and Best Buy.

A Peterson representative confirmed the negotiations are ongoing. Nike representatives were not immediately available for comment.

The project team, according to plans obtained from Construction Journal, includes BRR Architecture of Overland Park, Kansas, Team Solutions of O’Fallon, Missouri, and Henderson Engineers of Lenexa, Kansas. Of the 9,793 square feet set aside for sales, 5,569 square feet is listed as for apparel and 4,192 square feet for footwear, per the plans.
