WASHINGTON — The Virginia Department of Transportation is inviting the public to a traffic incident management open house in Fairfax Saturday.
The event brings together officials from VDOT, local police departments, Fairfax County Fire and Rescue, towing companies and Dominion Energy. The “Touch a Truck” exhibit will feature a simulated crash scene that will allow the public to see a mock incident response.
“We’re looking forward to the public being able to see firsthand what is involved in clearing lanes. Not only the vehicles and tools, but how VDOT works together with public safety, utilities, towing,” said Ellen Kamilakis with VDOT.
The event begins at 10 a.m. at VDOT’s Northern Virginia Headquarters, at 4975 Alliance Drive in Fairfax.
Attendees are urged to dress warmly; temperatures are forecast to be in the 30s during the event.
