Police: Woman sexually assaulted in van, dropped off on side of road

WASHINGTON — Police are searching for two suspects who picked up a woman at a Fairfax County restaurant, sexually assaulted her and then abandoned her on the side of the road over the weekend.

A 50-year-old woman went to a restaurant in the 5800 block of Columbia Pike in the Falls Church area Saturday where she met two men, according to police. The restaurant was near the popular Crossroads Center Shopping Center.

The three left together in a minivan similar to an older Honda Odyssey and drove toward Arlington.

While in the van, the two men sexually assaulted the woman and a handgun was displayed, according to police. The assault happened some time between 11 p.m. Saturday and 2 a.m. Sunday, police added.

The suspect swiped the victim’s phone and forced her out of the vehicle somewhere along Route 50 near South Manchester Street. She flagged down a passer-by, who called police.

The victim was taken to a local hospital where she was evaluated and released Sunday afternoon.

The suspects are both described as Hispanic. One was about 30 years old, around 5 feet, 5 inches tall and had a slim build. The other suspect was in his early 20s, about 5 feet, 7 inches tall and had an athletic build.

Anyone with information can call police at 703-246-7854 or 703-691-2131.
