Fairfax County man arrested for sex offenses with minors

WASHINGTON — A police investigation led to additional charges and rearrest of a Fairfax County man Monday in Loudoun County.

Joseph Patrick Gamerl, 53, of Fairfax, was arrested  Aug. 8 by the Fairfax County Police Department’s Fugitive Squad. He was charged with three counts of using an electronic device to solicit a minor and three counts of soliciting child pornography.

Gamerl’s last known address was in Fairfax but he was located in Loudoun County when he was arrested.

Fairfax County police began an investigation on Gamerl on May 9 after a 10-year-old told a family member that Gamerl had touched her inappropriately.

He was arrested June 17 on charges of taking indecent liberties with a child and aggravated sexual battery but he was released on bond.

A thorough investigation found that Gamerl was using an electronic device to solicit minors, which led to his rearrest on Aug. 8.

Police are asking anyone with information or who might have experienced a similar incident with Gamerl to contact Det. A. Grabe at 703-246-4526 or to report it online at Fairfax Crimesolvers.
