Student arrested following drug-related death in Centreville

WASHINGTON — Fairfax County police arrested an 18-year-old Centreville High School student in connection with a 17-year-old girl’s drug-related death in March.

Police said David Evers turned himself in at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center on Thursday, May 19. The 18-year-old is charged with manufacturing, selling, giving, distributing or possessing with intent to manufacture, sell, give or distribute a controlled substance, or an imitation controlled substance.

The death of 17-year-old Alexia Springer on March 1 sparked the investigation when police found the Centreville resident unresponsive at her home in the 13800 block of Coleman Court.

According to police, the manner of death was accidental. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner determined that the cause of death was acute combined morphine, alprazolam, oxycodone and ethanol poisoning.

Police said they are still investigating.
