Man charged with assaulting 10-year-old at Fairfax Co. recreation center

WASHINGTON — A 71-year-old man is in police custody after police say he assaulted a 10-year-old at a Fairfax County recreation center over the weekend.

On the afternoon of Dec. 19, police were called to the Oak Marr Recreation Center after an employee noticed suspicious behavior in the men’s locker room. Police says 71-year-old Moussa El-Haddad assaulted a 10-year-old boy in a shower stall at the center.

After identifying El-Haddad as the suspect, police arrested him at his Oakton house Monday around 6 p.m.

He is charged with three counts of aggravated sexual battery and one count of indecent liberties. He was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center where he is being held without bond.

Fairfax County police are encouraging parents and guardians to report any conduct that makes you or your child uncomfortable.

“Discuss this issue with your child and remind them about the basic tenets of personal safety,” police said in a news release.

Detectives are asking that anyone with information regarding this incident contact them at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477) or 703-691-2131.
