Reading Snow days are the perfect time to cozy up with a good book to catch up on some reading. There’s nothing like holding a cup of hot chocolate in one hand and flipping book pages with the other, all while watching snowflakes fall outside the window. Scrapbook We take so many photos in our daily lives, but we’re always so busy that we never take the time to look through them. A snow day is the perfect time to print out those digital photos and make the scrapbook you’ve been dreaming of. (AP/Gregory Bull)

Pope started a petition demanding the toy company Hasbro make its Easy-Bake Oven more boy friendly. She was inspired to do so when Gavyn put the oven on his Christmas wish list and she and their mother, Erica Boscio, found the toy only available with girls on the packaging and in pink or purple colors. The petition garnered more than 30,000 signatures in a little more than a week. (AP Photo/Julio Cortez)
Play with Kids Likewise, this is the perfect time to spend quality time with your kids. Rough house. Build a fort. Stage a play in the living room. One day, some of their best childhood memories might be of the “Blizzard of 2016” (if that’s what we indeed get). (AP/Julio Cortez)
Israeli soldiers play the board game risk as they pass time in their army base, near Israel's border with the Gaza Strip, in southern Israel, Friday June 20, 2008. Guns went quiet as a six-month truce between Israel and Gaza Strip militants took effect early Thursday, marred only by widespread skepticism about its ability to hold. The cease-fire, which Egypt labored for months to conclude, aims to bring an end to a year of fighting that has killed seven Israelis and more than 400 Palestinians, many of them civilians, since the Islamic militant group Hamas wrested control of Gaza a year ago.(AP Photo/Dan Balilty)
Board Games Put away the cell phones, tablets and video games! It’s time for some good old-fashioned family fun. A snow day is the perfect time to teach your kids to play “Poker,” “Hearts” or “Crazy Eights.” It’s also prime time for board games, the longer the better. We recommend marathon session of “Risk,” “Monopoly,” “Scrabble” or “Life.” (Associated Press/Dan Balilty)

Snowball Fights After waiting out the worst of the storm from inside your home, you’ll want to get outside and let off some steam. What better way than packing some snow into a ball and chucking it at your loved ones? Nothing says, “I love you,” like a snowball to the face. (AP/Rogelio V. Solis)

Sledding There’s nothing more fun on a snow day than breaking out your sled for a lightning fast ride down a steep hill. Runner sleds, saucers or toboggans provide a nice variety of fun. If you’re feeling really creative, carve out a nice track with embankments, dump water down the track and wait for it to freeze. You’ll be bobsledding in no time. (Associated Press/Daniel Luedert)

Shoveling Snow It might not be as fun as a snowball fight, but it’s a necessary evil. Don’t wait until the snow stops falling before breaking out your shovel. You should shovel your driveway throughout the storm, so you don’t break your back after it stops. (AP/Jonathan Drew)
