Cast of ‘Gilmore Girls’ reunites for ATX Festival

WASHINGTON — The residents of the quaint New England town of Stars Hollow were a long way from home this weekend. Everyone from Rory and Lorelai, to Miss Patty and Paris flew to Austin, Texas for a “Gilmore Girls” reunion eight years after the popular CW show aired its final episode.

Die-hard fans braved hours in the Texas summer heat to see 15 members of the cast on the closing-night panel at the fourth annual ATX Television Festival. And according to reports, it was well worth it.

Cast members dished on everything from first auditions to where the characters would be in present day. Alexis Bledel (Rory Gilmore) said, no doubt, Rory would be a journalist, and Lauren Graham (Lorelai Gilmore) says she imagines Luke and Lorelai are still together.

Matt Czuchry said Logan would likely not have a job, and Liza Weil (Paris) predicts she and Doyle are taking over the world, hand in hand.

And while the 1,200-seat venue was full to capacity, there was one empty seat in the house. A brown leather chair remained empty on stage; it was left for Edward Herrmann, who played Richard Gilmore on the show. Herrmann died in 2014, and cast members screened a special tribute to the actor at the event.

The series’ creator, Amy Sherman-Palladino, was also at the reunion. She put rumors to rest that a “Gilmore Girls” movie was in the works, but did not dismiss the idea, entirely, saying it would have to be the right timing. If she does decide to do a movie, she said, she plans to “do it correctly.”

Lauren Graham tweeted from the event:
